Dennis Becton is a Head of Client Experience and Digital Technologies at The Vanguard Group, currently acting as the Retail CXD Technology Lead. Dennis is a firm believer in the statement, “if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem”, and always strives to improve the areas he’s involved in. He categorizes himself as an “accidental leader” whose passion for software development, and improving the craft itself, has led him through his career path. He’s fortunate to be leading technology within Vanguard’s subdivision that is on the cutting edge of what we refer to as ‘New Ways of Working’, where we use empowered, cross-functional teams to deliver on key customer journeys. These teams work with senior executives to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for their journey, and then employ ‘lean startup’ techniques to improve upon them. This role has been the highlight of Dennis’ 25+ years at Vanguard.
