Jan 15, 2016 Onboarding the Guest Wireless Network
There’s no arguing that WiFi is pervasive in our lives. Between the number of laptops in a home with its own wireless internet connect and the ever-increasing number of devices that rely solely on wireless, including mobile phones and tablets, the everyday user is extremely reliant on this connectivity. As an organization, it is nearly expected that IT will offer wireless service, not only for employees, but guests, as well. When building out a wireless network, IT usually thoroughly thinks out employee access and onboarding. Most organizations will use a credential access through a Network Access Control (NAC), or pushing credentials through a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution. Guest network onboarding is often a completely different beast, and can be overlooked. Organizations should acknowledge that many people desire guest wireless Internet access when visiting a company, and take the necessary steps to enable it securely.
