Achieving Google G Suite Videoconferencing Success

Author: Irwin Lazar, VP & Service Director

G Suite adoption in the enterprise growing, with approximately four million organizations now embracing it for all or part of their unified communications and collaboration environment. Google Hangouts Meet within G Suite provides easy to join audio, video, web conferencing capabilities from any browser but to achieve success organizations must integrate it into their existing videoconferencing environment, and they must enable easy access for external and internal participants, regardless of type of endpoint, videoconferencing system, or meeting client.

To meet this goal, G Suite customers should evaluate the recently announced integration capabilities delivered by Google, in partnership with Pexip. This service enables integration between Hangouts Meet and standards-based room systems, as well as clients like Microsoft Skype for Business and is available as either a cloud, on-premises, or partner- hosted solution.

IT leaders should:

  • Evaluate alternatives for supporting Hangouts Meet conferences for external participants and existing videoconferencing systems.
  • Determine preference for on-premises or cloud solutions in accordance with need.
  • Consider solutions that allow for maintaining on-net traffic flows between endpoints to optimize bandwidth utilization and ensure high video quality.
