Building a business case around moving to cloud—and making the infrastructure and application changes necessary to support this move—shouldn’t be a challenge. Cloud adoption continues to rise rapidly, with more than 80% of organizations reporting they are moving at least some (but not all) workloads to the cloud. That means most enterprise organizations operate in hybrid mode, with on-premises data centers complemented by Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) options.
As part of the move to integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud, enterprises should consider modifying their network infrastructure and application development initiatives to leverage the increased agility and flexibility that cloud services provide. According to Nemertes Research’s 2016/2017 Cloud and Data Center Benchmark and Maturity Model, the most successful organizations are significantly more likely to deploy SDN, SD-WAN, and DevOps than their less-successful peer organizations.
