This spring, Nemertes [Next] heads to Music City! April’s conference focuses on innovation and nanotechnology with talks on topics such as autonomous robots and the use of AI in robotics and finance. One highlight will be the talk by OP Skaaksrud, lead strategist at FedEx, on “Crossing the Chasm in 2025: Innovating at the Pace of Technology.”
In addition to the regular conference sessions, Nemertes [Next] attendees are invited to Vanderbilt University’s Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats. The world-class roster of speakers explores issues of national security and AI. Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, will deliver the opening keynote entitled “National Security and Artificial Intelligence” and there will also be a fireside chat with director of the DoD’s Office of Net Assessment Jim Baker, among several other notable sessions.
Nemertes [Next] kicks off with an ALT-style workshop on “Telling Tech Stories for Fun and Profit” with Newbery Honor Award-winning author and physicist Erin Bow. Our field trip will take us to three of Vanderbilt University’s research centers – The Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery & Engineering, The Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science & Technology, and The Center for Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology – for a hands-on look at nanofabrication, advanced microscopy, microfluidics, biophotonics, exoskeletons, and various advances in surgical robotics.
