Corporate productivity rose during the pandemic and has stayed higher than pre-pandemic levels. Corporate profits (the ultimate measure of productivity) were 10% higher in July 2023 than in July 2020. Moreover, innovation doesn’t seem to have suffered. Facts like these don’t seem to matter to managers hell-bent on forcing employees back in to a 20th-century operational model. So, let’s look at the numbers.
